: Nawabganj Jame Mosque in Dhaka was originally built in 1576, during the Mughal era, by the order of Shaista Khan, son-in-law of the Mughal Emperor Shah Jehan. The mosque is a square structure made of brick with a grand frontispiece, four corner towers, and a wide courtyard. It is one of the oldest and grandest mosques in Dhaka. Inside the mosque, the prayer hall comprises three bays and is surrounded by a series of four pillars, which form the langar khana (dining hall). The walls of the mosque are elaborately decorated with painted floral motifs, intricate designs, and inscriptions written in calligraphy. The mosque is famous for its ornate pyramidal shape two-tiered roof and the large thousand domes that crown the structure. The roof is made of terracotta and is held up by a series of merlons. The main prayer hall is decorated with floral plasterwork, stalactites, and painted arches. The mosque also features a grand Mihrab decorated with intricate marble and mosaic works. The rear side of the mosque has a large central water tank (hauz) surrounded by a series of small domes. The mosque also features 4 minarets that can be seen from outside.
