It was built in the early 16th century and is said to be the oldest surviving structure of Moulvibazar. The mosque is heavily ornate and decorated with intricate designs and patterns. The dome of the building has three tiers with four arches each, while the two turrets on either side of the entrance way feature four arches each. The entrance itself has an intricately carved marble door with inscribed quotations from Quran. The interior is lavishly decorated with stucco, lacquered woodwork, and panels of marble. The inner chamber is large enough to accommodate up to 30 people at a time for worship. The walls and columns of the main chamber are covered with intricate patterns and designs of colors.
