is an ancient Mughal-era mosque located inside Lalbagh Fort in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It was built in 1678 by Prince Muhammad Azam, the third son of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb (then the Viceroy of Bengal). The mosque features typical Mughal architecture, with a huge inner courtyard and four minarets. The central structure is two stories high, with multiple domes and arched entrances. The Lalbagh Fort Mosque, also known as the Aurangabad Mosque, is located within the Lalbagh Fort complex in the southern part of Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. The mosque was built in the early 17th century (between 1678 and 1679) by Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb, and its architecture reflects the traditional Mughal style. The mosque is composed of a large central domed chamber surrounded by four smaller aisles. The dome, which is surrounded by four slender minarets, stands over 50 meters high and is the largest in Dhaka. The inner walls of the mosque are decorated with intricate patterns which were painted directly onto the plaster. The mosque also has multiple openings that allow visitors to admire the full beauty of the structure from both inside and out. The compound of the mosque is surrounded by two boundary walls with four gateways, each guarded by two guard towers. The walls and guard towers are decorated with Mughal style calligraphic inscriptions, and the two octagonal towers at the northern and southern ends of the mosque are particularly notable for their intricate and ornate designs. Further, the mosque complex includes several other smaller structures such as two sepulchres, a royal pavilion, and a royal bath.
