Kamalganj Jame Mosque was built during the reign of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb (ca. 1658-1707). The mosque is an example of typical Mughal architecture. It is a rectangular building made of brick and lime plastered over, with a large dome.The dome rests on four corner pillars, which have been constructed with mango stonework. The façade has numerous arches and mihrabs, which are decorated with intricate flower and geometrical designs. On the roof, the traditional chhajja (overhangs) and battlement can be seen. The doors are lakhori (framed) and the floor is paved with bricks. There is a large courtyard surrounded by a three-sided veranda supported by four large stone pillars. The mosque is adorned with various five-pointed stars, stalactite designs, colorful tiles, and calligraphy. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
