Architecture:

The Chauddagram Jame Mosque is a magnificent example of Mughal architecture, located in Chauddagram upazila of Comilla district in Bangladesh. The mosque was built during the Bengal Sultanate period, between 1539–1545. It is considered one of the oldest surviving mosques in Bangladesh. The mosque is built in a vernacular style of Hindu architecture, with three interconnected floors and a large central dome. The rectangular structure of the mosque is 22.98 meters long and 17.53 meters wide. The central dome of the mosque is 16.76 meters high and has a diameter of 12.14 meters, which is supported by five semi-circular arches. There are four corner towers, each of which is 3.66 meters in height. The mosque also has three niches and six small minarets. The interior of the mosque features blue, green and red tile work, with intricate stucco decorations. The walls of the mosque are decorated with intricate Koran inscriptions. The mosque also features Islamic calligraphy and inscriptions of verses from the Quran. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
