The traditional worship method of Pura Dalem Penataran in Bali is based on Balinese Hinduism, an ancient faith that has its roots in India. At the temple, there is a daily ritual known as a 'tirta yajna', which involves offering grains, flowers, fruits, incense, and other blessings to the gods, along with chanting mantras. The ritual also includes offerings to the guardian spirits of the temple (Dewatas) and to those who have passed away (Pitrus). After the tirta yajna, the blessing is carried out with prayers and offerings to the gods in the form of a ritualistic dance known as 'ngala'.
