Zaqatala Central Mosque In Azerbaijan: Brief History,Architecture,Visiting Hours, & Travel Information
Architecture:
The Zaqatala Central Mosque, located in the town of Zaqatala, was built in the 19th century. The main structure of the mosque is composed of two overlapping circumnavigations, which are connected in the center by a corridor and three gateways. The mosque is built of white limestone and brick with characteristic stone decorations. The interiors of the mosque comprise of two double domes and four vaults that support the dome constructions. The apses, which are covered by wooden frames, appear from the front with staircases. The inscriptions and ornaments on the walls and columns are framed with white limestone. The prayer hall is decorated with carved wood ornaments and there are several arcades. The minbar is richly adorned with colored tiles in floral patterns. Behind the mosque, a bath house exists surrounded by walls. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.

Zaqatala Central Mosque is a historical mosque located in the Zaqatala District of Azerbaijan. It was constructed in the year 1774. The building is rectangular-shaped and has two minarets. The mosque was severely damaged during the Soviet period but was later restored to its original form. The mosque is open to the public for visits. Getting There: The nearest airport to Zaqatala Central Mosque is the Zaqatala International Airport, located 11 kilometres away from the mosque. The airport offers frequent flights from Baku and other cities in Azerbaijan. The mosque is easily accessible by car. It is located at a distance of 250 km from Baku and can be easily reached by road. Parking: There is ample parking available near the Zaqatala Central Mosque, with roadside parking.
