History:
Sabir Park is a public park in the center of Baku, the capitol of Azerbaijan. Named after the 19th century poet and satirist Molla Nasraddin (also known as Sabir), the park was established in 1914 and is the largest park in Baku. The park was originally located in a marshy area near the Sea of Azov. After Soviet control of Azerbaijan in 1920, a decision was taken to create a large park in the city and the area that is now Sabir Park was chosen. During Soviet rule, the park was home to Robert Koch Park, which displayed sculptures of Koch and his most famous discoveries. In recent years, the park has undergone a major renovation to improve its landscape and create a better atmosphere for visitors. The renovation included the installation of a large fountain, new benches, and a pedestrian-only promenade. The park is now a popular spot in the city for picnics, walks, and other leisure activities. It is also the center of numerous cultural and entertainment events, such as musical concerts, circuses, and performances by local and international artists. In 2020, a monument of Molla Nasraddin was erected in the park and dedicated to his famous work. Sabir Park remains one of the most beloved parks in the city, and a favorite place for people of all ages to enjoy. Visit one of the famous monuments of Azerbaijan with your friends and family.
