Parish Church of Saint Egidius In Austria: History,Facts, & Services

The Parish Church of Saint Egidius is a Roman Catholic church located in the village of Mala Strana, near Prague in the Czech Republic. It was built in the late 17th century and is dedicated to the patron saint of Prague, Saint Egidius. The church is a baroque-style building, with two towers and an interior with a large altar. The interior of the church is decorated with several statues and paintings, as well as two chapels dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary and St Wenceslas. It is one of the best churches in Austria which you must visit.

History:

The Parish Church of Saint Egidius was built in 1680, on the site of a 12th-century Romanesque chapel. The Romanesque chapel was in ruins, and a new parish church was commissioned by the village of Mala Strana. The new church was designed by Antonín Rahl and was completed in 1680. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Austria.
