History:
Freie Christengemeinde Wels was founded in 1980 by Margit Dolezal, Oskar Kurz and Martha Schreier, three local evangelical pastors. At the time, the Protestant community in Wels was divided between traditional Lutheran and Reformed communities, so the three pastors sought to create a new interdenominational Christian community that would be open to all Christians regardless of denomination or background. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Austria.
