High Point Village is a small settlement located on the northwest coast of Antigua-and-Barbuda. The village has a long history dating back to the 16th century when it was an active trading post for the Arawak people. In the 17th and 18th centuries, the settlement was strategically important as it was a safe haven for runaway slaves and a source of salt. This small fishing village was key in the development of many other towns and cities in the area, including St. John's. High Point Village was established as a fishing village in the 1930s, with a population of about 200 people. The main industry in the village was fishing, and the catch was mostly sold to fish markets in the nearby capital, St. John's. The settlement also became known for its flourishing cottage industries, such as basket weaving and basket making, boat building, and salt production.
