The Palau de Gel d'Andorra, or the Ice Palace of Andorra, is a large multi-purpose arena located in the Principality of Andorra. It primarily serves as the home arena for the Andorran national ice hockey team and the local hockey league. The arena also hosts sporting events, concerts, and other events. The history of the arena dates back to the early 1970s, when the government of Andorra expressed a desire to construct an ice rink for the first time. In 1975, construction of the ice rink began in Canillo, a community located in the Parish of Canillo. The Ice Palace of Andorra was officially inaugurated in September 1977, making it the first ice rink in the country. Since its completion, the arena has served as the home rink for the Andorran national hockey team, and the local hockey league. The arena has also served as the home arena for the local basketball team, an important cultural gathering point for the local community and as a host for major sporting events, such as the Winter Universiade in 2002. In November 2012, the new Palau de Gel d'Andorra was unveiled in order to replace the aging original arena.
