History:
Bosc de Moretó (literally, Moretó Forest in English) is a settlement situated in the district of Encamp in the country of Andorra, in the northeast of the Pyrenees mountains. It is located at the foot of the Mont de Meritxell, on the right bank of the Riu de Sant Julià. According to oral tradition, Bosc de Moretó was initially founded by a shepherd who moved there to take care of his herd of sheep. From the 16th century onwards, more people moved into the area and established small farms. In 1966, the parish of Encamp was officially established by the Community of Valleys. Since its integration to the parish of Encamp, Bosc de Moretó has grown in population and infrastructure due to the touristic development of the area. This includes a variety of recreational activities such as skiing and snowboarding in winter, and mountain biking and hiking in summer.
