It was constructed in about 906 AD by a sheikh named El Attaf who was a powerful member of the local court. It also features arched colonnades, intricate plaster carvings, and colorful paintings. The best way to get to the mosque from the airport is by taxi or car, as there is no public transportation directly to the mosque.
