History:
Bibi Mahroo Hill is located in the central Afghan capital of Kabul. This hill is the site of significant historical events two of which include the famous Ghazi and Amanullah Palaces. Built in the early 1900s, the Ghazi Palace was the residence of the King Amanullah Khan, the King of Afghanistan from 1919 to 1929. During Amanullah Khan's reign, the city of Kabul developed rapidly and he was the first ruler to introduce social and educational reform in the country. The prominent landmark was originally known as Lari Mountains and is a popular tourist spot. The most important feature is the monument of Bibi Mahroo, which was built to honor an early Afghan heroine. According to traditional Afghan folklore, Bibi Mahroo was a young girl who bravely fought against the invading Mughal forces in the 16th century and was later martyred for her bravery. The monument was built to commemorate her memory. The Ghazi Palace, which was constructed by King Amanullah Khan, is now a museum operated by the Afghan government.
