Route Guide to Reach the Canton Tower in Guangzhou
About Canton Tower
The Canton Tower or Canton Tower (also known as the “supermodel”) is a radio and TV tower in the Haizhu District of Guangzhou City, near Chigang Pagoda and 125 meters (410 feet) from the north bank of the Pearl River. The hotel overlooks Haixin Sha Island and the Pearl River in New Town, opposite the river from Guangzhou’s 21st-century CBD. It was completed in 2009 and began operations on September 29, 2010, at the 2010 Asian Games. While most skyscrapers contain “male” traits; being extroverted, strong, straight, rectangular, and based on repetition, the architects wanted to create a “female” tower, complex, transparent, winding, and gracious. With a rich and human-like identity that represents Guangzhou as a dynamic and exciting city, their goal was to design a free-form tower. The result is a very slender and tall tower that bears a resemblance to the figure of a woman. The narrowest part of the tower, the waist is the 66th floor, which is only 30 meters (98 feet) in diameter. The canton tower can be divided into five zones according to height, namely zones A, B, C, D, and E. Visitors can experience various pleasures inside the tower.
Zone A is 32 meters (105 feet) from the ground floor. In this zone, visitors can enjoy 360-degree views of the Pearl River from the 2nd-floor Outdoor Plaza. The plaza is one of the best places to shoot the vast landscapes of the Pearl River. At Riverside Café, visitors can enjoy the cool breeze from the river and appreciate the beautiful scenery with family and friends.
