Pucará de Tilcara is an archaeological site located in the Jujuy region of northern Argentina, near the Bolivian border. History:

The ruins at Pucará de Tilcara are believed to have been built around 700 AD and are considered an important archaeological site in Peru. The site was once the capital of the Tiwanaku culture, who inhabited the area in pre-Colombian times. It is thought that Pucará was a religious and political center that was heavily fortified to defend against attack from neighboring tribes.
