The State Russian Museum is the largest depository of Russian fine art in the world. It was established in 1895 by the Tsar Nicholas II of Russia, with the main branch located in St. Petersburg. It houses artwork from the 10th century onwards, including some of the largest and most renowned works from the likes of Ilya Repin and Ivan Aivazovsky. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Russia.
