Church of the Savior on Waters is a Russian Orthodox church located in St. Petersburg, Russia. The church was built in 1764 by architect Matvey Kazakov. It is one of the oldest churches in St. Petersburg and is part of the former palace complex belonging to the Sheremetev family. The church is home to the awe-inspiring miracle of a weeping icon located in the apse of the church. It is one of the best churches in Russia which you must visit.

History:

The church was originally constructed in 1764 as a private chapel for Count Sheremetev's family but was restored in 1913 and became a functioning church. It was closed after the revolution of 1917 but was reopened in the 1990s. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Russia.
