History:
The Church of the Resurrection was first established in 1814 and consecrated by the Metropolitan of Saint Petersburg on October 25, 1819. It has gone through several reconstructions over the years. Between 1930 and 1933, the church was closed during a period of persecution as part of the atheist campaign under Joseph Stalin. The Church reopened again in 1991 and has been active ever since.
