Worship Method:

The worship method of the Temple of Amenhotep III at Kom el-Hettan was a combination of traditional Egyptian religious practices, such as offerings and prayers, with new, progressive religious innovations initiated by the pharaoh himself. Offerings and sacrifices to the gods were made, including meat, birds, wine, incense, and clothing. Prayers were also said to the gods, asking for protection, prosperity, fertility, and other favors. Amenhotep III also introduced civil rituals, such as the Opening of the Mouth ceremony which was used to consecrate new buildings or monuments. This ceremony was held during the Festival of Opet, when the divine statues of Amenhotep III were taken from the temples and transported to the Karnak Temple. During this procession, the gods were symbolically present and offerings would be made throughout the procession. In addition to offerings and prayers, music was a major component of temple worship. Musicians played the sistrum (a type of rattle used in religious ceremonies), the harp, and other instruments to accompany religious rites and invocations.
