Pyramid of Khufu-3, also called the Great Pyramid of Giza, is the oldest and largest of the three pyramids in the Giza Necropolis, Egypt. It was built during the reign of the Fourth Dynasty Pharaoh Khufu (also known as Cheops), and is believed to have been completed around 2560 BC. Today, it stands as the only surviving monument of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The pyramid is the central structure of a complex surrounded by several other smaller pyramids and monuments, and it is believed to have originally been encased in a smooth white limestone casing. The structure itself is estimated to contain an estimated 2.3 million limestone blocks, each weighing around 2.5 tonnes. It was built around 2560 BC and is considered to be one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The pyramid is estimated to have taken 20 years to build and required over six million tons of limestone blocks. The pyramid is the tomb of Pharaoh Khufu, the second ruler of the 4th dynasty of the Old Kingdom of Egypt. Khufu was a very powerful ruler, and his pyramid is said to reflect his great power and wealth. The pyramid was built with carefully carved stones weighing up to 15 tons each. The stones were carefully placed in an incredibly precise pyramid shape. To further increase the accuracy of the construction, the Egyptians used a plumb line and level to ensure the exact squares and straight lines that form the pyramid were accurately constructed. The pyramid is believed to have been built using a system of ramps and pulleys. This system is thought to have allowed the workers to move the stones up the pyramid and put them into place. The Great Pyramid of Khufu is also famous for having 3 distinct chambers. These are known as the Queen’s chamber, the King’s chamber, and the Grand Gallery. In the centre of the pyramid, there is a final room known as the Subterranean chamber. It is believed that this chamber originally contained a sarcophagus which would have contained Khufu's remains.
