The Mastaba of Ptahhotep is an ancient Egyptian mastaba tomb located at Sakkara, Egypt. It is dated to the 5th Dynasty of the Old Kingdom period (2494-2345 BC). The Mastaba is believed to have been constructed by Ptahhotep, an ancient Egyptian chancellor and vizier. It is also known as the Ptahhotep Causeway or the Ptahhotep Pyramids. It is one of the most well-known mastabas in Egypt and is considered to be one of the earliest known examples of monumental architecture in ancient Egypt. The Mastaba consists of two parts; an outer structure with three false doors and a central inner structure with a set of stairs leading up to a funerary chamber. The mastaba is carved from limestone and decorated with inscriptions, hieroglyphics, and reliefs depicting scenes from everyday life. The inscriptions detail Ptahhotep's government service, family history, and his yearning for eternal peace. The Mastaba of Ptahhotep is considered to be a model for later mastabas found in Egypt and other parts of the world.
