History:

The first structure of the Palace was built in 1892 and 1910, designed by French architect Stephane Boudin and the Italian firm of Garozzo and Zaffrani. It was initially used as Khedive Ismail's summer palace, and seen as a vital part of his rule in Alexandria. The area also features a small hill, which was the location for Khedive Ismail to view the progress being made to the palace. The Palace was used by successive kings and by the presidents of Egypt after the monarchy was abolished in 1952. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Egypt.
