History:
Eriksberg Wildlife Park is located in the heart of the Swedish archipelago and is the only privately owned wildlife park in Sweden. The wildlife park was founded in 1967 by Hans and Margareta Lidström, descendants of the same family who had owned and managed the area since 1864. The family had previously been involved in the logging of timber in the area and wanted to preserve the natural surroundings. Eriksberg Wildlife Park offers guests the opportunity to experience a variety of Scandinavian wildlife including moose, bison, deer, wild boar, wolves, lynx, and more. Visitors are able to explore the park on foot or by taking advantage of the specialised bus services offered within the park. In the more recent years, Eriksberg Wildlife Park has become a popular tourist spot, and has seen its total visitor numbers reach over 300,000 people in 2018. The park also works to aid in the conservation of endangered species, such as the European mink, through research and reintroduction plans. In addition to this, the park also looks to reduce their carbon footprint by collecting and recycling their own residential waste, as well as using electric vehicles for their safaris.
