He built a manor house on the grounds and named it the woodland deer park. The palace underwent a number of renovations and alterations throughout the years. The White Drawing Room was added in 1717, and the ceiling of the King's Grand Staircase was adorned with carved and gilded swags in 1725. The palace then passed to George IV, who redesigned it in the early 19th century. The interiors were remodeled, the palatial exterior updated, and new wings added.
