History:

Buckingham Palace has been the official residence of the monarch of the United-Kingdom since 1837, when it was the residence of Queen Victoria and King Albert. The palace was originally built in 1703 for the Duke of Buckingham, John Sheffield, and has been owned by the British royal family since 1761. The palace has undergone a number of redesigns and renovations over the years, including the addition of a new east wing in the 1840s and a new south wing in the 1860s. During the 1870s and 1880s, the palace underwent further renovations to expand the existing rooms and add stately furnishings.
