The history of Hatta Heritage Village dates back to the late 19th century when a group of Bani Yas families settled in the area to take advantage of the abundant natural resources. The village developed as a center for farming, fishing, trading, and art. Many of the traditional buildings were constructed over the next several decades, and the village flourished. In 1971, the United Arab Emirates was proclaimed independent and the government identified Hatta as a traditional Emirati heartland for the protection and development of the country’s history and traditions.
