History:

Dubai Marina is a man-made marina situated within the urban locality of Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The marina is located off the coast of The Jumeirah Beach Residence and is spread over an area of 3.5 million square feet. Dubai Marina was launched in 2003 as part of the Dubai Waterfront project by then-President Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum and was constructed by the Dubai-based contractor, Al Jaber Group. The Dubai Marina project is the largest artificial marina development in the world and consists of a large complex of luxury high-rise buildings, promenades, and recreational areas such as bars, restaurants and shops, and the marina itself, which is home to over 8,000 boats. The architecture of the project is based on a modern interpretation of traditional Islamic forms and includes many residential blocks of one to four bedroom apartments, two-storey townhouses, and villas that feature outdoor terraces and patios with waterfront views. The Dubai Marina project is the world's tallest tower; the Burj Dubai, with a total height of 828 metres (2,717 ft). The tower is home to many restaurants, cafes, and bars, as well as a marina promenade and a boardwalk. The Dubai Marina also offers a range of recreational activities for residents, tourists, and business travelers alike; from water sports such as kayaking, jet skiing, and sail boating, to adventurous activities such as mountain biking, paragliding, and camping. The Marina Walk, which links the Marina’s seven distinct sections, and separates it from Jumeirah Beach Residence, is accessible through the air-conditioned underground tunnel which runs beneath the Marina from the Dubai Metro's Dubai Internet City Station. Today, Dubai Marina is one of the most sought-after luxury waterfront residential developments in Dubai, with a lively nightlife and endless sights and attractions.
