History:

The history of Dubai Parks and Resorts begins in 1999, when Dubai government announced its commitment to develop the city as an international destination for leisure and entertainment. In 2000, Dubai's ruler, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, announced plans to develop recreational, cultural, and leisure facilities in the region. The first recreational park, Wild Wadi WaterPark, was opened in 2004. Since then, Dubai Parks and Resorts has grown to include a variety of attractions, ranging from motion-based rides to theme park attractions to water parks. In 2009, the Dubailand theme park opened its doors, followed by the opening of Motiongate Dubai in 2016 and Legoland Dubai in 2017. In 2018, the region’s first Bollywood-themed park, Bollywood Parks Dubai, opened at the complex. The following year, Riverland Dubai was added as a dining and entertainment hub that links the parks together. In 2020, Dubai Parks and Resorts also welcomed the Legoland Water Park as well as a wide variety of food and beverage outlets. Later in 2020, the IMG Universe opened its doors, offering participants a variety of activities, such as bowling, laser tag, virtual reality simulations, and much more. IMG Universe is spread over a large area of Dubai Parks and Resorts, and visitors can find something for everyone.
