History:
The Ajman Museum was established in the year 1988 as an effort by the ruling family of Ajman, the Al Mualla family, to document and display the traditional history and culture of Ajman and the surrounding region. The museum was located on the east side of the country, near the Sharjah border, in a purpose-built building, which served as a repository for the large collection of artefacts gathered by the Ajman rulers over the years. The building was designed to resemble a fort, reminiscent of the Arabic style of Islamic architecture. It has a grand entrance with a large marble door and the museum’s logo, a pear, carved into it. The logo was chosen as a symbol of longevity as the pear’s tree can live for up to five years. The permanent exhibits on display in the museum range from vestiges of the ancient Bronze Age such as jewellery and coins, to Weights and Measures used in bygone days for weighing gold and frankincense. Contemporary exhibits include displays on Ajman’s multicultural past and recent history, as well as artefacts and display cases depicting the country’s traditional cultures and heritage. There is also an old fort, built in 1820, located near the museum that serves as a reminder of Ajman’s past years of glory. The Ajman Museum is open to the public and serves as a major tourist attraction. Each year, thousands of visitors come to visit the museum and experience the culture and history of Ajman. The museum hosts educational workshops and special cultural and art activities for visitors of all ages. It also organizes lectures, seminars, and exhibitions each month, as a part of its regular events and activities. The museum is currently managed by the Al Mualla family. It is a non-profit institution dedicated to preserving the rich tradition and culture of Ajman for future generations. You must visit one of these historical places in UAE on your UAE tour
