It currently serves approximately 1,000 Greek Orthodox Christians living in the country, containing two churches in the cities of Tunis and Sousse (Gorgo). History:

Greek Orthodox Christianity arrived in Tunisia in the 5th century, when the first Greek Orthodox bishop was established in the city of Hippo Regius (modern day Annaba) on the coast. In the 7th century, Islamic forces took control and Tunisia was largely a Muslim country ever since. Despite the disappearance of most of the Greek-speaking population, the Greek Orthodox Church survived and still maintains its presence today. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Tunisia.
