The Church of Sers was originally founded as an Evangelical Congregational Church in 1871. It was controlled by French settlers in The Protectorate of Tunisia from 1881 to 1956. It eventually became a full denomination in 1934 with its own denominational headquarters and a central set of rules and regulations. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Tunisia.
