The worship practices at Wat Rajadhivas Vihara has its roots in Theravada Buddhism and in the belief of “Vipassana” or “Insight” meditation. This meditation is used to attain liberation and realization of truths and knowledge about the world and one’s self. This type of meditation is used during worship and can include chanting, prostrations, paying homage, musing and contemplating. Traditional Buddhists in Thailand conduct daily meditation and chantings/recitations of scriptures. Apart from meditation, the temple also follows other classic Buddhist traditions. These practices include paying respects to the Triple Gem, not taking life, abstaining from taking intoxicants, keeping the Five Precepts and developing loving-kindness (metta) and compassion (karuna).
