Wat Chaloem Phra Kiat is an ancient temple located in Lampang Province of Thailand. It dates back to the late 18th century and was built in honor of King Pra Cha-nga (King of the Golden Palace). The temple is made up of both a monastery and a sacred temple complex and is a major spiritual center in Lampang. The temple consists of the main Chedi, a wihan or viharn, a large wooden temple gate and several other minor buildings. The Chedi is the oldest part of the temple complex and is 43 meters high. It is made of brick, stone and wood and has a multi-tiered design. Inside the temple is a reclining Buddha image made from molten bronze. There are also several other Buddha images located throughout the Chedi. The Wihan is the second part of the Wat Chaloem Phra Kiat temple complex and is the largest building. It is used as the main place of worship for the monks which reside in the monastery. Inside the Wihan is a large golden Buddha image which is believed to have powers to protect the people of Lampang from harm.
