1. Vaikunda Perumal Temple, also known as Thiruputkuzi Sri Vaikundaperumal Temple, is a Hindu temple located in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, India. 2. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, and is one of the Divya Desams, one of the 108 holy shrines of Vishnu. 3. It is believed that the temple was constructed by the Pallava rulers in the 7th century AD. The temple is spread across an area of five acres. 4. It is believed that sages such as Agasthya, Yagna Valkya and Vasishta have performed penance here. 5. The chief deity in the temple is Vaikunda Perumal, who is said to have appeared before the sages. 6. This temple has three prakarams or enclosures. The outermost area comprises of the Vimana mandapam, Garuda mandapam and Vahana mandapam which are enclosed in a compound wall. 7. The sanctum of the temple houses the processional deity of the Lord in a sitting posture. The four arms of the idol hold discus, conch, mace and lotus. 8. The temple of Vaikunda Perumal at Kanchipuram is an important Vaishnavite shrine which follows the Vaikhanasa tradition of worship. The main deity is an 8.5 foot tall idol of Lord Vishnu in his four-armed form carrying a conch, disc, mace and lotus. On festival days, the temple holds various rituals like morning and evening puja, abhisheka and homa. During puja, the priests offer flowers, incense and offerings of sweets to the deity.
