The worship method of the Ramanathaswamy temple in Rameswaram is based on the Agama Shastras. The temple follows the Pancharatra Agama, also known as the Vaikhanasa Agama, which is a code of regulations and worship protocols for Vaishnavism. The temple has an elaborate daily program of worship and rituals, which starts at 4 am and goes on until 10 pm. All of the rituals are performed with great preparation and reverence.
