The history of this church in Luzern goes back to the 13th century. The church was originally the church of an Augustinian monastery, which was destroyed by a fire in 1634. From 1639-1883 the church was reconstructed and was used for both Protestant and Catholic services. In 1883-1886, the current neo-Gothic edifice was built on the site by architect Franz Reiterer. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Switzerland.
