1. The Suthumalai Murugan Temple is located in Suthumalai village, 13 kilometers from Mannar town and around 186 kilometers from Colombo in Sri Lanka. 2. The temple was built in the 18th century by the King of Mannar, Raghunatha Sethupathi, and is dedicated to the Hindu God Lord Murugan. 3. The temple is built over a sacred hill, and the main sanctum sanctorum enshrines the Lord Murugan idol in a seated posture with his consorts Valli and Deivanai. 4. The worshipping method of the Suthumalai Murugan Temple in Sri Lanka follows the Hindu tradition of offering poojas and prayers. It can be accessed by car, bus, or train. By Car: The temple is located about 10 km away from the city of Matara. The best way to reach the temple by car is by taking the Matara to Wellawaya road and then turning right onto the Suthumalai road. By Bus: There are several buses that depart from Matara and reach the temple in around 1 hour. The bus journeys are operated by Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) and tourists should inquire at the Matara Bus Station regarding the timings. By Train: Two trains leave from Matara and reach the temple. The journey by train from Matara to Suthumalai takes about one hour.
