Church of the Good Shepherd In Srilanka is a Christian church church founded in 1845, located in Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka. The Church has been associated with the Anglican Communion since its establishment and is the oldest Christian church located in Colombo. History The first Church of the Good Shepherd was built in 1845 on a site near Cinnamon Gardens in the city of Colombo. The present Sanctuary and parts of the Church Hall were built in 1925, although the original stone was used to construct the walls and central arch. The roof was completed in 1927, and the Church Hall was completed in 1933. The Church of the Good Shepherd has played an influential role in the spread of Christianity in Sri Lanka. Anglican missionary efforts from the Church have contributed to the growth and guidance of church followers from around the country, as well as in nearby countries including India and Burma.
