History:
The Cathedral of Christ the Living Saviour was built in the 1940s by the Roman Catholic Church in Sri Lanka, and it was formally consecrated in April 1950. Its foundation stone was laid by the then-Archbishop of Colombo Rt. Rev. Dr. Mark Regan on 1st June 1946. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Srilanka.

The Cathedral of Christ the Living Saviour is the largest church in Sri Lanka. The cathedral stands at a height of 60 metres and is based on Gothic architecture. It is the residence of the Archbishop of Colombo. The building was made out of grey granite and golden-grey scoria and its bell tower is the highest in the country.

The Cathedral of Christ the Living Saviour conducts various services, including the celebration of the Eucharist, the Sacraments, teaching and preaching, adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and social services. It is also the centre of the National Pilgrim Shrine.This beautiful church in Srilanka has made a lot of significance in the past.
