The worship method of Sri Naguleswarar Temple follows the traditional Hindu ceremonies observed within the Sri Lankan Tamil Maha Vishnu tradition. Lord Shiva is the peeditamurti(main deity) in the temple. The worship begins with early morning abhishekam, which includes bathing the deity with holy water and the offering of flowers. In the afternoon, a puja is performed and the temple priest offers worship to the Lord. Offerings of food are presented to the deity after worship. On special occasions, bull sacrifices and madapa poojas are conducted in the temple grounds. The temple is located approximately 9km from Kalmunai city center and can be reached by taking the A32 Road towards Ampara for about 45 minutes. The A32 Road is well signposted and easy to follow.
