The Gnanaivarar Temple in Vavuniya, Rambaikulam, Sri Lanka, follows the traditional methods of Puja and homas or poojas. During the Thirukkalyanam or Marriage ceremony, the Lord and Goddess in the temple are offered sandalwood in a consecrated pan. In addition, fragrant flowers, edibles, and water are also offered as part of the worship.
