All Saints' Church - Borella In Srilanka is a historic Anglican Church located in the Colombo Municipal Council area of Colombo, Sri Lanka. The church, established in 1873, has long been a landmark in the city, and was for many years the center of Anglican preaching and worship in the area. The church also serves as a focal point for the ecumenical activities of the Anglican Church in Sri Lanka. The church is both a Grade IIA heritage building and an Anglican parish church. History All Saints' Church - Borella was established in 1873, when the area was still mainly a small village, in what was then the British colonial-era Ceylon. The foundation stone of the church was laid on 4 June 1873 by the Bishop of Colombo, H.L. Blyth. The church was initially built with the intention of serving a British cantonment of the same name in the area. The architect Mannering, who had designed the Anglican Church of St. Paul - Peliyagoda as well as other church edifices in Ceylon, was appointed to design the structure. The church was opened for service on 4 March 1875. Facts -All Saints' Church - Borella is a Grade IIA heritage building. -The Church building is of stone and lime mortar construction. -The Churchyard contains a number of historical tombs and monuments. -The Church is built in the Gothic style, with the ground plan in the shape of a Latin cross. -The Church has a driveway entrance, with a large bell tower, and two portals on either side. Services All Saints' Church - Borella holds regular Sunday and weekday services. Also, weddings, baptisms and funerals can be held in the church. The church also offers pastoral care and ecumenical activities, and there are a number of outreach programs for the community.
