Parish of San Ricardo is a historic parish located in the coastal city of San Juan, Puerto Rico. It was founded in 1692, making it one of the oldest parishes in Puerto Rico. It was originally known as San Andrés y San Ricardo, and was later simplified to San Ricardo. It was named after Saint Richard, the patron saint of sailors. History:

San Ricardo Parish is one of the oldest parishes in the city of San Juan, Puerto Rico. The parish was founded around 1692 by Fr. José de Múzquiz y Velasco, a Spanish priest and missionary. He built the main parish church, dedicating it to Saint Richard, the patron saint of sailors. The original church was destroyed in a hurricane in 1787 and its current building was erected in 1843. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Spain.
