Convento de San Clemente is a historic Roman Catholic convent that has been standing in Mexico City since the 16th century. It was originally built by the Franciscan Fathers in 1585, and is now part of a cultural and educational complex. History:

In 1585, Archbishop Francisco Durán commissioned the construction of Convento de San Clemente, naming it after the 13th century saint Saint Clement of Tuscany. Over the centuries, the Franciscan Fathers made many alterations and renovations to the building, such as adding the elaborate facade and arches. In the late 19th century, the convent was donated to the Mexican Army and was used as a military Hospital and later a School of Medicine. From 1927 to 1973, the building was abandoned and fell into disrepair, but in 1974 was sold by the Mexican Army to the Secretary of Education.
