Church of San Pedro Ad-vincula is a Roman Catholic church located in the heart of Old San Juan, Puerto Rico. It dates back to 1521 and is one of the oldest churches in Puerto Rico. Its name translates to Saint Peter the Apostle, and it is said to be built on the walls of the first Spanish fort ever built in Puerto Rico. The church was founded by the Franciscan friar, Francisco Salazar, in 1521. Initially, it was a simple timbered structure, but it underwent a major renovation in 1736 overseen by Governor Miguel del Toro when it was almost destroyed by a hurricane. The church represents a unique combination of Moorish and Baroque architecture. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Spain.
