The cathedral is dedicated to the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary. It features a neo-classical design, with twin towers, a large central dome, and a marble facade. History:

The present cathedral was built in the 19th century to replace the small chapel of Our Lady of Europe which stood on the same site since its establishment in 1462. The opening of the cathedral in 1839 coincided with the coronation of the Virgin Mary by the Pope. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Spain.
