St Leonard's Church was founded in the 12th century and is one of the earliest Christian foundations in the Borders region. The church was built using stone from the nearby Swinton Quarry, with the remains of a Norman doorway being one of its oldest features. The church also has evidence of past additions, with various architectural elements added throughout its long history. Facts and Features: The church is set within a historic graveyard and boasts several interesting features. These include its Norman doorway, five lancet windows, richly detailed interiors, and a 12th century Sunday school. It also has various memorials, including one commemorating Christopher Snowball, an 18t-century minister who was the victim of a fatal shooting at the chapel.
