St Ciaran’s Church was built in the early 11th century as a collegiate church, and was granted control of the nearby Priory of the same name in 1124. It has undergone various renovations over the centuries, most notably the addition of a new bell tower in 1654. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Scotland.
